American Red Cross & Skillz Reunite to Support Disaster Relief Efforts in the U.S.

This weekend, Skillz and the American Red Cross have teamed up again to raise money for disaster relief through mobile gaming charity tournaments. This weekend’s tournament will run from Saturday, October 24 at 10am PT until Sunday, October 25 at 10pm PT. Players can also view more information at redcross.org/skillz.

The world is grappling with many disasters across the globe. In the United States, we are currently fighting Colorado’s largest wildfire in history as a new tropical storm, Epsilon, forms in the Atlantic and Alaska faces tsunami warnings. This all comes as we approach over 8.4 million confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country since the start of the global pandemic.

Last month, Skillz and the Red Cross teamed up to support natural disaster relief amid fires across the West Coast. In March 2020, Skillz and the Red Cross raised $40,000 to help alleviate blood shortages as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Skillz and the Red Cross also partnered in 2019 to support the families and communities affected by the California wildfires, raising over $41,000 in one tournament.

In a continuation of this partnership, Skillz and the Red Cross are launching mobile esports tournaments to help ensure people affected by disasters both big and small receive the support they need.

Skillz is committed to leveraging the power of the mobile gaming community to tackle persistent challenges and support important causes. Through its leading mobile games platform, Skillz has activated thousands of new nonprofit donors during charity tournaments.
