Last week, Skillz hosted StartUp Vegas’ RiseUp Women in Tech event at our Las Vegas headquarters. The program featured lunch, networking, and a panel discussion spotlighting two of our own leaders driving culture and innovation at Skillz.

What is RiseUp?

RiseUp is a community-driven initiative from StartUp Vegas, a nonprofit dedicated to growing Southern Nevada’s startup ecosystem. The series is designed to support and spotlight women in technology and entrepreneurship, bringing together local leaders, innovators, and professionals to connect, share experiences, and discuss the pressing topics shaping the industry.

By partnering with RiseUp, Skillz continues to strengthen ties with the broader Las Vegas tech community and highlight the impact of women shaping the future of gaming and technology.

Fireside Chat: Culture + Product in Vegas

Two Skillzians, Kristina Janiga, Senior Director of People Operations, and Jennifer Nguyen, Product Manager – Consumer Products, led a one-hour fireside chat on building culture and scaling products at Skillz.

Kristina shared her perspective on scaling high-performing teams, hiring for culture, and why Las Vegas is the right place to grow tech talent.

Jennifer reflected on her journey from UNLV to product leadership, discussing the unique opportunities Las Vegas offers for product innovation and consumer engagement.

The panel also emphasized why Las Vegas is a powerful home for scaling a gaming and technology company. With a strong entertainment heritage, a growing tech workforce, and a culture rooted in competition and innovation, Las Vegas continues to be a place where Skillz, and the broader tech ecosystem, can thrive.
