Skillz CEO Speaks at SportTechie’s State of the Industry Event
Last week, our CEO and founder Andrew Paradise spoke at the SportTechie State of the Industry conference in Brooklyn, New York!
Hosted by a popular sports and technology news outlet, this inaugural event brought experts together from across the country to discuss technology that is shaping the future of both online and offline sports. The panelists and attendees discussed topics ranging from gaming, eSports, athlete data tracking and sports media consumption, to highlighting new technologies that are disrupting the industry.
In addition to the panels and presentations, attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a networking reception for a chance to mingle and speak with other insiders and experts. Everyone was also invited to the New York Islanders vs. Columbus Blue Jackets NHL game in the Honda Club, which resulted in a 4-1 domination by the visiting Blue Jackets.
Andrew was featured on a panel alongside leaders from Major League Baseball and Monumental Sports and Entertainment about the trajectory of eSports, the immense potential for growth, as well as financial investment opportunities. The panelists highlighted the connected future of offline and online sports, and discussed where the billion-dollar industries will coexist and benefit one another.
Many sports leagues and teams have already been investing in eSports, such as Sacramento Kings co-owner Andy Miller in the Skillz $25 million Series C round and owners of the New England Patriots, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Mets in the Skillz $15 million Series B round! With the value of eSports leagues, teams and companies continuing to climb, the industry is projected to grow exponentially.
